One for the Weekend!

Today I had time to make a card - Yay!
Mmmm the pinks don't look like they co-ordinate in the photo, but they look ok IRL :)

I used a 5" x 7" Jenni Bowlin Bingo card which you can find in the Clearance section (only 50p each!)
I love them and they're a perfect for the front of a card.

First I inked the edges with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink, punched a scallop circle out of some Prima Script paper and inked the edges of that too.
The pink organza was concertinererered (how do you spell that??!!) onto a strip of DS tape on the scalloped circle, then mounted on the bingo card with foam pads.
The antique key charm was also attached with foam pads & finished off with a thin strip of hemp which had also been given some frayed burlap treatment.
Finally hemp was stamped with these gorgeous Doodle Deux stamps by Prima using Archival Coffee Ink, then cut in half along the length and adhered with DS tape - lovely!

Thanks for dropping by
Have a Gorgeous Weekend everyone, may the sun shine pleeeease!

Masked & Inked Tags

Today I had a play with some Gorgeous Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings paper, K and Co Grand Adhesions (currently 25% off!) and a Crafters Workshop mask designed by Julie Fei Fan Balzer - Punchinella. Mix in some Tim Holtz stamps, distress inks et voila!

On the tag above I swiped a little gesso, through the mask, heat dried it then went over with a little Crushed Olive distress ink to add a little texture.

A more subtle look with Bundled Sage

This last one with Vintage Photo.

Don't stop at gesso and distress inks, masks work great with chalk inks, paints, texture pastes, sprays. The list is endless!

Thanks for dropping by, have a great weekend :)

Love is in the Air!

Hi Everyone!
Ok so mostly this last week my air has been filled with flu bugs from our child, coughing & spluttering from the other half & Blimmin' snow!

So it's time to lighten the mood & get ready for Valentines!
Have you made a card yet?
I did! (inserts smug grin) & since the other half doesn't check my blog so often I think I'm safe sharing it here!
Relatively quick to do (especially when I didn't add an insert) - all my lovely card making buddies who know me will be horrified but not surprised ;)

So it's all things Tim Holtz:
Sizzix Movers & Shapers Mini Love Struck & Dec Strip Tickets
Stampers Anonymous From the Heart and Odds & Ends
Distress Inks - assorted colours
Yummy Cluny Natural lace by Wrights

Let's Stamp workshop in the morning, can't wait! Will post pics tomorrow night :)
Take care x

Tims Tags 11 & 12!

Alas, today was the last day of Tims 12 Tags of Christmas for 2011.
Sigh.....
I've so enjoyed creating, trying new techniques & products, tomorrow it will be back to work as normal (well as normal as I can possibly be!)
Here's my version of Tag 11
I used this cool set of Christmas stamps by Teresa Collins and had lots of fun with the shrink & melt pot!

Finally Tag 12, love love love it!

The Tissue Wrap is divine & you maybe pleased to know we are selling it by the metre so you can try it before splashing out on a full roll!
The bottom of the tag is waiting for just the right kind of tinsel, so will have to root around at home to see if I can snag some :)

Tomorrow I will share with you my handmade Christmas Wrapping :)

UKS Blog Hop!

Hi there Everyone!

If you are participating in the UKS blog hop, you may have come here from PaperMaze. After checking out our project, go to ScrapRevolution to see the next project, and see the thread on UKS to see the full list of links and info on prizes!

Welcome to our Teeny Christmas Project :)

We're making cute mini books with Dominoes, Alcohol Inks & Graphic 45 Christmas Emporium paper.
Would love to have you create with us.
If you "need" any of the products including the Dominoes we've used,
you can snag them here (see below for Todays Special Offer!)

So, off we go!

Supply List
Alcohol Inks & Felt Applicator,
Dominoes,
Patterned Paper,
Stamps,
Archival ink,
Baby Wipes,
Twine,
Distress Stain,
Hot Stuff Mat
and a Jingle Bell!

1. Grab some Alcohol Inks (co-ordinate your colours with the paper) Don't forget you can mix them, we used blue & yellow to create green), a couple of Dominoes and a felt applicator on a hot stuff mat.

2. Apply colours randomly, wipe off before they dry with a baby wipe and keep re-applying until you're happy with the finished result. I dulled mine down quite a lot as my PP has kinda vintage hues ;)

3. Ink up a Stamp with Archival & stamp image on the dry Domino, wipe off with baby wipe and you'll be left with a ghost image (cool!) Then re-apply inked stamp over the ghost. As it's near enough impossible to get the image in the same place, you'll create a shadow making the image pop (don't you love happy accidents lol!)

Repeat on the second Domino

4. Select your PP, I used Graphic 45 Emporium "Special Delivery" which is great as everything I need is on one sheet :)

5. Cut a strip just short of the length of your Domino

6. Decide how may pages you want, then score & fold at a width just short of the width of your Domino. (Measuring "just short" ensure your book will fit neatly inside)

7. Adhere your concertina to the inside of each Domino (normally I'm a life's too short kinda girl, but you could round the corners of the concertina beforehand!)

8. Choose some words from the remaining paper, cut & stick!

9. These cute stamp images were crying out to be used!

10. Ahem - Waste Not Want Not!

11. When you're done decorating you pages, stain some twine in co-ordinating colours

12. Add a couple of words to the front cover (yes, it's the paper strip again coloured with a smidge of Distress Ink) & slather on a good layer of Stickles (well, it is Christmas!) Wrap around your bespoke coloured Twine et Voila!

13. Notice I decided to stamp the edges of the Dominoes right at the end! You could leave them or another cool idea is to cut a length of tissue tape in half and wrap that around as we did in an earlier post with some Halloween Dominoes :)

Many thanks for looking in, please do leave a comment (include your UKS name) then hop on over to the next Blog.
For today only, we're offering a 10% discount on anything in our shop (Please use this code MUKSBLOGHOP) If you're popping in today just mention the UKS Blog Hop to get the same :)

Pretty Spools!

I've been meaning to Blog these for a week or two now, please excuse my blog tardiness! Aren't we seeing Spools everywhere at the moment!? You'd think it might spur my sewing machine into action but sadly not, yet!

So anyway these cuties (even if I do say so myself!) were created by Jane & myself were inspired by two sources :)
Firstly, the wrapping of paper, lace & ribbon from an article in the Winter Issue of Somerset Life. This publication is packed with homely inspiration & wonderful photography!
Secondly, we saw spools with clips on the Alterations table on the Sizzix stand at this years Trade Show.
Et Voila (apologies, I've been watching Raymond!), a perfect base to show off a tag, ATC or random piece of artwork :)

Speaking of Random Art, these 2 pieces were created simply by using KaiserCrafts English Rose paper, Cuttlebugs Script Embossing Folder, Victorian Velvet & Crushed Olive Distress Inks, Sizzix Alterations Regal Crest Bigz Die.

The Large Spools were swiped with Antique Linen Distress Stain & the Clips coloured with Alcohol Inks!
