Masked & Inked Tags

Today I had a play with some Gorgeous Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings paper, K and Co Grand Adhesions (currently 25% off!) and a Crafters Workshop mask designed by Julie Fei Fan Balzer - Punchinella. Mix in some Tim Holtz stamps, distress inks et voila!

On the tag above I swiped a little gesso, through the mask, heat dried it then went over with a little Crushed Olive distress ink to add a little texture.

A more subtle look with Bundled Sage

This last one with Vintage Photo.

Don't stop at gesso and distress inks, masks work great with chalk inks, paints, texture pastes, sprays. The list is endless!

Thanks for dropping by, have a great weekend :)

Love is in the Air!

Hi Everyone!
Ok so mostly this last week my air has been filled with flu bugs from our child, coughing & spluttering from the other half & Blimmin' snow!

So it's time to lighten the mood & get ready for Valentines!
Have you made a card yet?
I did! (inserts smug grin) & since the other half doesn't check my blog so often I think I'm safe sharing it here!
Relatively quick to do (especially when I didn't add an insert) - all my lovely card making buddies who know me will be horrified but not surprised ;)

So it's all things Tim Holtz:
Sizzix Movers & Shapers Mini Love Struck & Dec Strip Tickets
Stampers Anonymous From the Heart and Odds & Ends
Distress Inks - assorted colours
Yummy Cluny Natural lace by Wrights

Let's Stamp workshop in the morning, can't wait! Will post pics tomorrow night :)
Take care x

Random Sharings!

Hi Everyone!

Just dropping in to share a few creations from this weekend :)
Firstly a Birthday card I made for our neighbour whose Birthday it is today - Happy Birthday Laura! I used Sizzix Alterations Sewing Room & Alphabetical (loving this font!), Tims Kraft Coredinations card a Sizzix Texture Fades Embossing Folder & some Seam Binding coloured with Antique Linen Distress Stain.

Secondly my iphone cover which I overhauled yesterday with some cute charms & a lot of watch pieces adhered with some Multi Matte Medium. Whilst it seems remarkably firm I think I'll seal it all down with a layer of Diamond Glaze tomorrow at the shop.
The frame & Vintage hue on this photo was created with Snapseed, a great App, I'm loving it :)

Lastly, whilst perusing Shabby Blogs for a new Spring Time Background & Header I discovered this free frame download on their blog & quickly slotted in a pic of Kieran devouring Churros @ Wahaca in Stratford Westfields Shopping Centre late last year :)
Thought I'd pass it on!
Have a Great Sunday, thanks for dropping by!

Valentines Canvas

Hi All!

Just thought I'd share with you the methods I used to create the canvas featured in Februarys issue of Craft Stamper :)

I love playing with multiple layers on a canvas, it creates an interesting depth. The best part is if you don't like a layer, you can wipe it off & start again!

Method:
Most of the following requires drying time between each step, you can use a heat gun or let it dry naturally.
Apply a layer of Jo Sonja's Napthol Crimson paint to the canvas and dry.

Adhere pieces of torn book paper with Glue n Seal.

Using a scrap of sequin waste as a mask, randomly apply Brilliant Magenta paint in patches.

Using the same paint stamp a heart onto scrap paper then stamp over with Archival Black Ink & the Calligraphic stamp.

Spread an even layer of Jo Sonja's Aqua paint on a craft mat, stamp the hearts & quote with the From The Heart set using the paint as an ink pad. With leftover paint dab around the edges of the canvas.

Add a shadow highlight to the quote by writing with a Versamark pen then heat emboss with black powder.

Stamp the edges with Archival Black ink & the Fabulous Flourishes stamp set.

Stamp & heat emboss numbers from the Stuff to Say set.

And don't forget the outside edges!

Finally adhere pink heart & attach a button if you wish!

I gave my canvas a final swipe over with some left over Brilliant Magenta paint, to soften it slightly.
Have fun & get messy (it's half the fun!)

Stamps used: Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz From The Heart CMS006, Fabulous Flourishes CMS070 & Stuff To Say CMS110; The Artistic Stamper Calligraphic Mat 12.
Find these & all other materials together on one page here :)

Christmas Configured!

Yesterday we hosted a Christmas Configurations workshop taught by Julie.
6 of us had great fun & "just" managed to finish in 6 hours!
Here is mine, I added the feet this morning, I'm delighted (thanks Julie!)

Thanks also to Ann, Carol, Christine & Jennie who came to play!

Onto this morning, Kieran had to join me today & was gutted he missed out on creating yesterday. "Make one then!" I said and off he went. Choosing papers, embellishments etc.
Within hours he had completed this, with only a little help from me with the tissue tape binding. Not bad for a 10 year old eh?
Both are now proudly displayed on our windowsill at home :)

The walnut is a Christmas Dec made by his Grandma - perfect!

Thanks for dropping by!

"Proper Cards"!!!

We have some fabulous talented ladies who teach & shop here at Pickleberry!
Let me share their cards, then my feeble attempt at what we called "proper cards"
We had some great light-hearted banter last night, inserts or not?!
I so struggle with layering, matting, precision much to Jean & Heathers' amusement!

So first to one of Barbara's cards which she taught here last week with Artemio Baubles Stamps

And my version from last night....
I didn't have the lush Tim Pine stamp Barbara used so substituted with one of Jennie's from the Botanical 2 set, the greeting from MME Lost & Found Christmas Set

Jean made us a Wonderful Card, isn't it gorgeous!
Thank you & for the use of some your pearlesent card ;)

Here's a Stunning one from Heather who used an amazing Dreamweaver stencil,
thanks Heth!

Here's another we received from a lovely customer Anne, thanks Anne it's amazing, I love the embossing! (lol, can you see me in the reflection?!)

So now to one of mine which I had to resist the urge to distress & use copious amounts of foam pads (needs to be flat for posting!)
Thanks to Jennie for the loan (again) of the Sizzix Ornaments die ;)
I double die cut with this Movers & Shapers die set
Ok I lied, there's a teeny bit of Dusty Concord on the hanger thingy!

& now for the grungy distressed card - easy!
Again using the branch from Botanical 2 :)

Thanks again to everyone for sharing, I'm off now to make some more!
Have a great weekend :)

Tims Tags 11 & 12!

Alas, today was the last day of Tims 12 Tags of Christmas for 2011.
Sigh.....
I've so enjoyed creating, trying new techniques & products, tomorrow it will be back to work as normal (well as normal as I can possibly be!)
Here's my version of Tag 11
I used this cool set of Christmas stamps by Teresa Collins and had lots of fun with the shrink & melt pot!

Finally Tag 12, love love love it!

The Tissue Wrap is divine & you maybe pleased to know we are selling it by the metre so you can try it before splashing out on a full roll!
The bottom of the tag is waiting for just the right kind of tinsel, so will have to root around at home to see if I can snag some :)

Tomorrow I will share with you my handmade Christmas Wrapping :)
